Microsoft Outlook gives an error, asking if you want to start it without Spam Runner. If you click “Yes”, Spam Runner does not operate, even if you re-enable it in Microsoft Outlook. (20 May 2004)

This problem has been reported by users of Microsoft Outlook 2000.

An internal error can cause Microsoft Outlook to crash. On restarting, Outlook gives the option to disable any plug-in that was associated with the internal error. Since internal errors caused by Spam Runner are very rare, users can usually click “No” in this dialog, causing Outlook to load Spam Runner as usual.

If a user clicks “Yes” to disable Spam Runner, it cannot be re-enabled through the “Tools”, “Options” dialog of Microsoft Outlook or by re-installing Spam Runner.

To solve this problem, do the following:

    1. In Outlook click on the “Tools” menu and then on “Options”,
    2. Click on the “Other” tab and then on “Advanced options”,
    3. Click on the “COM Add-Ins” button,
    4. In the list of add-ins that appears, select Spam Runner and click on the “Remove” button,
    5. Press “OK” on all open dialogs and then close Outlook down,
    6. Restart Outlook,
    7. Repeat steps 1 to 3,
    8. Click on the “Add” button,
    9. Browse to “C:\Program Files\Spam Runner” or to the custom location you used during Spam Runner installation,
    10. Select “Mariachi2.dll” and click “OK”.
    11. Click “OK” on all open dialogs.

Spam Runner should now operate correctly.
